Ms. Marvel Star Reacts To Harry Styles Joining The MCU – Screen Rant

Iman Vellani, known for her outspoken views on the MCU, has weighed in on if audiences can expect Harry Styles to return to the franchise.
Iman Vellani, the star of Ms. Marvel (and famously a diehard fan of comic book stories), has addressed whether audiences can expect Harry Styles to return to the MCU. The former One Direction lead singer made his franchise debut in the mid-credits scene of Eternals in 2021, playing Eros, accompanied by Seth Rogen as Pip the Troll. In the comics, Eros also goes by the name of Starfox, possesses the power to control other people's emotions, and is the biological brother of the supervillain, Thanos.
In an interview for the Associated Press, Vellani was uncharacteristically uncertain when asked to speculate on a potential Styles return to the franchise. The twenty-year-old star, who made her acting debut as Kamala Khan in the 2022 Disney+ original series, has become well-known for her vocal opinions on the MCU's creative decision-making. On the subject of a Styles superhero comeback, however, it appears her breakout role has not yet given her the inside track on Kevin Feige's plans.
"I feel so weird about it. I don't know. It's strange. I really wonder if they're going to go ahead and do something with his character or if they just teased it for the sake of it. Because I know Chloe Zhao is a big Harry Styles fan…but then you have all of the Harry Styles fandom in the MCU fandom. How chaotic would that be?!"

Despite his super-brief cameo, Styles' mid-credit appearance in Eternals sparked considerable interest not just for his celebrity status but for how the scene made sure to namedrop Thanos and make explicit their fraternal connection. Although Eros appears to share no physical resemblance with the late Mad Titan, the simple fact of his biology implies a power level at least on par with everything audiences saw Thanos capable of in both Infinity War and Endgame. Considering how Eros has been a member of both the Avengers and the Dark Guardians in the comics, this positions him well as a potential wild card as the franchise heads toward The Kang Dynasty. Moreover, given the frequent use of time travel when it comes to Kang the Conqueror, Eros could find himself face-to-face with his genocidal brother in some alternate timeline of Kang's manipulation.
Ahead of production on her show, Vellani sent a list of feedback for all previous MCU movies to Sana Amanat, co-author of the Ms. Marvel comic books. Vellani has also previously disputed the assertion, made in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, that the franchise's home universe is designated 'Earth-616', as 616 has long been the accepted designation for the Marvel Comics universe. Vellani advocates that the MCU takes place (mostly) on Earth-199999 universe. Vellani has also poked fun at behind-the-scenes aspects of the MCU, such as promising Marvel boss Feige that she would remain more tight-lipped on potential spoilers than the famously indiscreet Tom Holland.
Vellani has not only been a loud and proud Marvel super-fan since her discovery (cast as the first Muslim-American superhero fresh out of high school). She has also been happy to acknowledge her awareness of review-bombing campaigns from hateful minorities, not just for Ms. Marvel but other projects like She-Hulk, but that such efforts fail to bother her. With the future of the MCU looking more diverse with each new production, especially with the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel The Marvels (starring Brie Larson, Vellani, and Teyonah Parris), Vellani's attitude is sure to keep her as a role model for Marvel fans of all backgrounds.
