"He understands comic books, guys," Levi said. "He understands world-building, he understands how to do right by the canon and also by the characters and also by the audience. And [DC Studios co-SEO Peter Safran]'s there to — he's an incredible diplomat and business person. I've worked with him now for years. Just breathe. It's gonna be okay. It's gonna be better than okay."
In the same video, Levi discussed his potential departure as Shazam, saying, "As of this point right now, I’m still that character […] I have no idea what’s going to ultimately happen to me." However, he added that if DC Studios decides to go in a different direction, "them's the breaks, that's how it goes." Levi previously addressed rumors that Fury of the Gods, the upcoming sequel to 2019's Shazam!, might be his last outing as the title hero following the recent changes at DC Studios. "I really wouldn’t go believing everything you see on the internet," the actor said.

Levi's comments come after a significant shakeup in the new DCU, which included the announcement that Henry Cavill would not be returning as Superman and that Gunn was writing a new film focusing on a younger version of the hero. Similarly, it was also confirmed that Wonder Woman 3 would not be moving forward at DC Studios either. Gunn later denied speculation that this meant Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot had been cut out of the DCU entirely. Recently, Black Adam met a similar fate when star Dwayne Johnson discussed the future of the property with fans and confirmed that the character would "not be in [DC Studios'] first chapter of storytelling."
Shazam! Fury of the Gods stars Levi and Asher Angel as Shazam and young alter ego Billy Batson. The cast also includes Jack Dylan Grazer, Djimon Hounsou, Ian Chen, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, and Jovan Armand. Adam Brody, Ross Butler, D. J. Cotrona and Meagan Good will all return as the adult forms of the Shazam family following their brief appearances in the first movie. Joining the cast will be Rachel Zegler, Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu as the villainous daughters of Atlas.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods will hit theaters on March 17, 2023.
